How Often Should You Get a Fade in a Texas Summer?

A fade is a haircut with a countdown timer on it. The whole look lives in the contrast between skin and length, and the moment that blend grows a quarter inch, the countdown's over. In a Texas summer, the timer runs faster: heat, sweat and sun mean more washing, more growth, and a hairline that shows every day of neglect.

The honest schedule

  • Skin fades and bald fades: every 1 to 2 weeks. There is no way around it; skin grows back.
  • Low and mid fades: every 2 to 3 weeks keeps the blend readable.
  • Tapers: you can stretch to 3 or 4 weeks if the top carries the style.

If you have somewhere to be looking sharp — wedding, interview, first day — get cut two or three days before, not the morning of. A fade settles and looks its best on day two.

Between the chairs

The lineup goes first. If you want to buy a few extra days, a quick edge-up between full cuts keeps the frame crisp while the fade grows out underneath. Plenty of our regulars run a full fade every other visit and a lineup in between; it halves the cost of staying sharp.

Shop truth Sweating through July does not ruin a fade. Skipping week four does. Book the next one before you leave the chair and you will never look grown out.

Quick answers

How long does a fade take at the shop?

Plan on 30 to 45 minutes for a full fade done right, a little more with a straight-razor lineup. We would rather take the extra ten minutes than send you out with a rushed blend.

Should I wash my hair before a haircut?

Come with clean, dry hair if you can. Product buildup hides the true length and makes the blend harder to read.

Do you take walk-ins for fades?

Yes. Chairs book direct on Booksy, and walk-ins are welcome six days a week, Monday through Saturday.
